Professor of Microparasite Epidemiology
Chair, UNAIDS Reference Group on Estimates, Modelling & Projections


Prof Garnett’s main research focus is on the epidemiology of sexually transmitted infections, including patterns of risk behaviour and the design of interventions. In particular, he is interested in the impact of interventions to HIV spread in developing countries. He is also studying the potential impact of STD vaccines and the interpretation of surveillance data for HIV and STDs.
